Africa Retail Academy
The Africa Retail Academy is an initiative developed by Lagos Business School to nurture the next generation of African retail professionals, practitioners and captains of industry. Drawing upon the expertise of foremost academics and practitioners from around Africa, the academy will paint a vivid portrait of the history, future and present state of retail on the continent.
Over a series of brief but carefully curated lectures, you will delve into the intricacies of what retailing involves, from ethical dilemmas to logistics management, and individuals from prospective retail professionals to heads of retail functions can solidify and build on their current understanding to become more effective at what they do.
The Africa Retail Academy is broken into three stages:
- The Certificate Programme for Retail Practitioners: Designed for beginners and relatively inexperienced retail professionals. Participants will learn about career opportunities available to retailers, environmental factors affecting retail on the continent, and even basic accounting practices concerning retail.
- The Certificate Programme for Retail Managers: This programme is designed to teach retail managers, retail-facing and non-retail-facing professionals, and public sector officials in the retail sector how to improve their managerial abilities and comprehension of retail operations.
- The Certificate Programme for Retail Executives: Created for retail executives, public sector leaders in the retail sector, heads and executive members of retail associations, and retail enterprise owners and leaders. The programme gives a strategic overview of the role of retail within an organization. Artificial intelligence, concerning retail, supply chain management and more is also treated in this course.
HR Academy
The HR Academy is designed to train mid-level HR managers, organizational development managers, and middle-level line managers on the core human resources capabilities required to function effectively in mid-level management. Participants will learn from our expert faculty, and will also gain valuable experience by working with colleagues on the challenges they face in their businesses. The programme will be a fine blend of executives from various sectors of the economy. This networking opportunity will also enrich the programme and greatly enhances learning and collaboration.
Throughout the programme, you will learn how to adapt the Balanced Scorecard seamlessly in the business case for people-based initiatives, the value of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, change management, and establishing organisational values beyond empty platitudes.
Sales Academy
The Sales Academy is designed to provide sales professionals with cutting-edge practical tools to apply to their everyday work to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity. The programme features activity-based sessions, case studies and a capstone project which would enable participants to apply key learnings directly to their work to improve the standard of performance and meet sales targets.
At the end of the training, you will be ready to ‘go to market’ with the requisite knowledge and skills of top-notch sales professionals. You would have learnt managing customer expectations in the dynamic Nigerian business environment, how to develop key criteria for sales volume increase by utilising the 4 P’s (Product Strategy, Pricing, Promotion, and Place), how to demonstrate soft skills, launching, executing and managing online and offline sales campaigns, among many other relevant skills.
Management Scholars Academy
The MSA is a two-year structured research mentoring internship and paid employment program designed to engage young, talented and academically focused individuals as research assistants under the tutelage of designated faculty members who train, mentor, and support the admission of research assistants into fully funded PhD programs overseas.
This program is intended to create a channel for developing high-quality PhD holders with an interest in joining the LBS mission of training future African business leaders.
